A Weekend Away

Originally posted on September 19, 2010.

This weekend started out as many do, with me home alone while Eddie was on-call. After watching too much Oprah, I went to bed with swollen eyes. The next day, however, we took off to Columbia for the USC-Furman game. We went into this with reasonable expectations; we knew we weren't going to win, but I was hoping that we wouldn't leave embarrassed. We started off tailgating with Amanda and Anne, who was our lovely hostess for the weekend. The roomie reunion was much-needed.

We had an amazing time enjoying the tailgating facilities that were loaned to us by Amanda's co-worker. Televisions and real bathrooms=the best tailgate I've ever been to. Although that would make a grand total of... 3? Anyway, we headed over to the stadium after a little while and I was a little amazed. I hadn't been in a big stadium since Furman played Clemson in 2003, so I'd forgotten what it was like to be in a huge crowd of people who are waiting for you to lose.

We held our own well for most of the game and until the last few minutes, we might have even had a shot at... not losing by half. Anyway, I had an awesome time with good friends and I have fulfilled my football game quota for the year!

On Sunday, the girls went to brunch while the boys played golf. We had amazing food and then decided to head to the Riverbanks Zoo, where I had one of the coolest experiences I've had in a long time! We got to feed a giraffe, which was so incredibly cool! I will leave my loyal [and non-existant] readers with this:
